Venice is different from any other tourist destination. Besides its beautiful palaces and refined art, Venice is unique in that there is no traffic, as transport is by means of ferries known as vaporetti. 

This is because the city is built around the Gran Canal, a wide canal to which the city's other smaller canals lead, forming an intricate network.
